Conference of the International Society for Hermeneutics and Science

The aim of the conference is to provide an open and stimulating atmosphere to discuss the topic of Hermeneutics of Sciences and Technologies.

Possible specific topics for discussion include, but are not limited to, the following:Hermeneutics as a philosophy of science and technologyScience, technology, technoscienceUnderstanding, interpretation, explanationHermeneutical and phenomenological methods in scientific and everyday cognitionHermeneutics, phenomenology, post-phenomenologyHermeneutics in/of specific scientific or technological disciplinesScience and technology in the contexts of social systems and/or life-worldsConstructivism and hermeneuticsSystems, networks, worldsThe general plan for the conference is the following:Day of Arrival: Tuesday, August 22, 2023August 23: Opening of Conference, Keynote 1, Paper presentations, and Reception (Evening)August 24: Keynote 2 and Paper presentations in the morning, Social Program in the Afternoon, and conference dinner.August 25: Keynote 3, Paper presentationsDay of Departure: Saturday, August 26, 2023Accommodations and Financial information: The conference fee is 175 euros. A collection of proposed hotels in Wageningen will be advertised soon.
Deadlines:  register for the conference by May 15th, by sending an email to Bart Gremmen (). In case you want to present a paper, please add an abstract of your presentation (max. 300 words). All abstracts will be reviewed; notice of acceptance: June 15th, 2020. To support the successful discussions all accepted abstracts will be published on the webpage of the ISHS (http://ishs.hu) from June 15th, 2020. We plan to publish a selection of papers in a special issue on the hermeneutics of sciences and technologies in a philosophical journal.
