Looking for an internship opportunity in a large, internationally-oriented research centre? 4TU.Ethics, the Centre for Ethics and Technology offers a student internship in the area of public outreach and social media communication, starting in September 2016 (or later).
The 4TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology (4TU.Ethics) is a cooperation of the philosophy departments of three technical universities in the Netherlands (Delft and Eindhoven Universities of Technology and the University of Twente). The bundling of forces in the field of ethics and technology in the 4TU.Ethics accommodates the increasing need for balanced, high quality and comprehensive reflection and judgment on moral, political and policy issues associated with science and technology.
- Support dissemination activities of 4TU.Ethics;
- Support the online presence of the Centre (website, social media etc.);
- Collaborate with journalists working with 4TU.Ethics;
- Support outreach activities of 3TU.Ethics members;
- Support us in developing and implementing our communication strategy;
During your internship you will take part in dissemination activities of 3TU.Ethics and maintain its online presence on social media and the website. The Centre collaborates closely with journalists – a part of your tasks will be supporting our researchers in these outreach activities, for instance in writing popular science articles and policy reports. The distributed character of the Centre requires a well-developed and up-to-date communication strategy, as communications intern you will continue developing these plans for dissemination of our excellent research.
Additional assignments (e.g., reports or written papers) needed for your study program can be negotiated.
We expect you to work with us for approx. 8 hours per week and to take part on a regular base in one face-to-face meeting per week.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, result-oriented and proactive student interested in media, communication, and research dissemination, who has good standing in the programme (not fallen behind), and who has:
- Good editorial skills;
- Good communication skills;
- Experience with social media software and sites, web page editors (WordPress).
The student may come either from a relevant study program (e.g., communication science) or may have acquired the relevant skills outside her or his field of study. Background in communication studies and ethics/philosophy of technology are bonus.
We offer an interesting, tailor-made internship programme, adapted to your needs: you will be able to discuss the length of your stay with us and your working hours during the intake interview. You will have the opportunity to further develop your communication skills and grow your local and international network in the 4TU. environment. 4TU.Ethics will reimburse all travel costs related to the internship. The starting date is September 2016 however, a later starting date is also possible.
